The teaching forest covers almost eight hectares of land in the area of Los Barredos, near the Palacio de Canedo. Eighty different tree species have been planted there. There are all the ones in El Bierzo and some more exotic ones, which make it a really spectacular botanical garden.

It is owned by the Prada a Tope Foundation, which has signposted the entire site and each species, to fulfil its educational mission.
Visits to the Forest are by appointment. We are very popular with educational and social institutions but it can also be visited on your own and without a reservation.
The Teaching Forest is the most precious heritage we leave to future generations. A true natural heritage worth preserving.
